Pony rider Luisa Grundmann, children rider Hannah-Katharina Dearing-Schumach, junior rider Sabrina Brötzner, young rider  Florentina Jöbstl, Under 25 rider Jonas Frick, and senior Grand Prix rider Timna Zach became the winners of the 2025 Austrian Dressage Championships in Kreuttal on 26 - 28 September 2025.

Seniors: Zach Dominates Skinny Field

In the absence of the entire Austrian A-squad, which chose to compete at the CDI Hagen in Germany instead of the national championships the same weekend, the Grand Prix division was slim pickings. Austrian team rider Bettina Kendlbacher was a no show with Broadmoars Don Alfredo. A meagre six pairs competed in the Grand Prix and just four rode the freestyle. Under 25 rider Felicitas Simoncic saved the day by moving up to the senior division to fill up the field, a move that paid off with a medal.

There was plenty of room for  come back "kid" Timna Zach to ride her own and René Hagemeier's 15-year old KWPN bred Farant (by Spielberg x Negro) to the title. The pair has been strikingly absent from the international show scene, having last competed at a CDI 1.5 years ago in March 2024 in Gössendorf.  She scored  70,380% in the Grand Prix and 76.245% in the freestyle for gold.  Timna trains with her dad and Monica Theodorescu.

Under 25 and young rider Felicitas Simoncic moved her KWPN bred Four Legends KS (by Wynton) into the senior division to grab the silver after scoring 69,360% in the Grand Prix and 71,410% in the Kur.  Simoncic was the 2024 Austrian U25 Champion, but has also been competing her second horse Quando Unico at Young Riders level. With Four Legends she now hopes to move into the senior ranks as of 2026.

The bronze medal was for Ulrike Prunthaller and Gestüt Murtal's 13-year old Trakehner mare Fleur TSF (by Kentucky x Grafenstolz). They scored 68,380% and 72,015% for an overall third place ahead of  Franziska Fries on one of her newest additions to her string, the 13-year old  Hanoverian Sunny Time (by San Amour x Jazz Time), which was previous owned and competed by Austrian-Australian Lauren Gold.

Youth: The Next Generation Goes for Titles

Pony rider Luisa Grundmann reigned supreme amongst her peers aboard the 10-year old German riding pony Milky Way PP (by FS Mr Right x Gershwin B). She posted 72.650 and 72.317 for the highest overall total and the gold medal

Children rider Hannah-Katharina Dearing-Schumach was back on board of the 7-year old Austrian warmblood bred Auheim’s Sarah Key (by Secret x Licotus) who has been competed internationally this year by Croatian Gita Zitkovic. Dearing and Sarah Key bested the children division with 78,175% and 73,824 %

In the junior riders category Sabrina Brötzner and the 12-year old Westfalian Bernini VMT (by Breitling W x Weltmeyer) was undefeated in both rounds and captured the highest step of the podium. She scored 69.279% and 70.439%.

Young rider Florentina Jöbstl gave a sigh of relief when she finally grabbed the national title after having been four times reserve champion. Aboard the 16-year old Hanoverian stallion Bodyguard (by Burlington x Pik L). She scored 70.044% in the first round and 72,368% in the kur for the overall victory. She was the only rider to twice score over seventy.

The Under 25 champion is Jonas Frick on the 18-year old Hanoverian mare Juno (by Hotline x Weltmeyer), who scored 67,474 and. 67,884% for gold.

Two More Titles

There were two further divisions at the Nationals in Kreuttal. Belinda Weinbauer recaptured the title in the senior small tour with the 10-year old Oldenburg mare Aurelia (by Grey Flanell), scoring 71.272% and 71.491%

In the para championships there were four pairs competing of different grades. Julia Sciancalepore and the 13-year old Hanoverian Heinrich (by Heinrich Heine) topped the board with 72.321% and 73/750%.
