The 16-year old PRE cross bred Grand Prix horse Hierro has been sold as a schoolmaster to Nicky Barrett's student Catia von Huetz in Great Britain.

Under Spanish Lauro Aguilo, Hierro (by Ferro out of PRE mare Babieca XII (by Binguero)) steadily competed at international Grand Prix level from 2010 till 2015 with mixed results. After the 2015 Spanish Championships Aguilo announced the end of his competitive career on Hierro.

In the summer of 2015 Aguilo's young rider student Maria Dolores Moncayola took over ride on Hierro and competed him in several YR classes, including the CDI's in Valencia, Sant Marti Vell, Oliva and Segovia, until May 2016.

Hierro will now serve as a schoolmaster for Von Huetz in Great Britain.

"He is such a super learning horse. It's a great opportunity for her and Hierro will have an easy time with lots of hacking as well," coach Barrett told Eurodressage. "He will return to Lauro to retire in sunny Spain when the time comes so it is great all round."
