The CDI-W Bialy Las combined an international World Cup qualifier with the Polish Dressage Championships on 11 – 14 September 2025

Hosted at the Biały Las equestrian center in south west Poland close to German border, this was the fifth Polish Dressage Championships in a row organized at Paulina and Grzegorz Przybylscy's stable and their third CDI-W. With around 120 entries the show field was definitely the most packed one of the outdoor season in Poland.

The panel of judges included Francis Verbeek van Rooji from NED, Clive Halsall (GBR), Kirsten Soegaard (DEN), Susanne Baarup (DEN), Elke Ebert (GER), Patricia Wolters (NED), Małgorzata Pawłowska (POL) and the chair was Marlena Gruca- Rucińska (POL).

Children: Helena Rozmarynowska

Competition new comers Helena Rozmarynowska and 18-year old KWPN bred Charmeur (by Vulcano x Cinovo) claimed the gold medal in the children division, not riding in the CDI tour but in the national leg of the show. The silver was for Milena Hochhaus aboard her 2025 EDS acquisition, 13-year old KWPN bred Handretti (by Andretti x Goodtimes). Aleksandra Machniewicz and 9-year old Hanoverian Baldessarini (by Buckingham x Rotspon) got bribze. She rode the CDI classes and those scores counted for the national championship ranking.

Helena Rozmarynowska on Charmeur
The show was pretty successful for Maja Polikowska, the coach of the Children gold and silver medal winners.

“Helena has been riding Charmeur only for six months and it was their international and Polish Championships debut. However Charmeur is a pretty experienced horse competing with my son Dionizy at two Europeans. Helena and Charmeur have been successfully competing regionally throughout the whole season and that’s why we decided to give it a try in Biały Las. It is a very promising combination and I like the way they learned to communicate with each other. Helena understands Charmeur very well. Milena and Handretti are also a very new combination. They’ve been competing together only for three months. I am really looking forward to both girls debuting in Juniors next season. I am also very happy for my son Dionizy who came back after a few years break to win silver in Young Riders with his new horse Quickborn.”

Junior Riders: Veronica Pawluk

Veronica Pawluk on Fallete OLD
German based Veronica Pawluk has been Poland's strongest junior rider for the past two years. With her 9-year old Oldenburg mare Fallete OLD (by Furstenball x Brentano II) she was unbeatable and renewed her champion's title. She won the team test with 69,748%, the individual with 71,030% and the kur to music with 72,575%. Veronica is a long-time student of former Spanish team trainer Jan Bemelmans.

While Pawluk was the undisputed favourite for the victory in the Juniors class, the silver medalist was a bit of a surprise as she was a debutant at the Polish Championships: Maja Kucharska. Aboard her eye-catching, 10-year old KWPN gelding  Kojack (by Arlando x Uphill), previously shown by Diederik van Silfhout, she scored 69,647% in the team test,  69,755% in the individual and 72,100 % in the Kur, staying on Pawluk's heels. She trains with Tomasz Kowalski.

The bronze medal went to Karolina Markowska's student Lea Zatońska on 9-year old KWPN gelding L-MO (by Ferdinand x UB40). The junior division was the strongest of the Nationals with twenty entries in total.

Young Riders: Natalia Plata on Repeat

Polish Young Riders' routinier Natalia Plata once again reigned supreme with her long-time partner Dolcetto, an 18-year old Hanoverian by Don Frederico x Wolkentanz I.  The pair, who has been showing internationally for six years and ridden at six European Youth Championships, captured the highest step of the podium with 67,382 % in the team test, 69,461% in the individual, and 71,475% in the Kur.

Natalia Plata on Dolcetto
“I won my first Polish Championships medal in 2016 on ponies, I had silver medals in children, gold medals and one silver in Juniors and now two gold medals in Young Riders," said Plata, who trains with Daniela Kuczkowska. "It's my second year in Young Riders. I rode two horses and chose Dolcetto for the Freestyle – he’s more experienced and we create a more harmonious duo. Our Freestyle is much more difficult and that’s why I decided to choose it. In the end we did better than at the Europeans. The pressure was not so high. I know the arena in Biały Las pretty well and that’s why I felt more confident. Dolcetto is not an easy horse and you never know what may distract him. I think that judging here was pretty strict, no mistakes were forgiven. Now I want to concentrate on my studies and take the beginning of the indoor season quite slowly. We may finish the indoor season in Lier next March. I really like that show."

The silver medal was for Dionizy Polikowski aboard 11-year old Oldenburg gelding Quickborn (by Quateron x Rubin Royal). Dionizy last showed internationally in June 2023 as a junior on Charmeur, but decided to make a come back to international youth sport with his new horse. They took a slow start in the team test (63,941%), moved to  66,568% in the individual test and posted 69,092% in the Kur. They also get coached by Jolanta Turowska.

Caroline Pawluk and the 12-year old Oldenburg Furst Fernando (by Furstenball x Rosario) finished on the bronze medal step of the podium with 64,529%,  67,157% and 67,483%.

Seniors - Small Tour: Sysojeva with Mazzel van de Nethe

Small Tour podium: Madej, Sysojeva, Laferi
The now Belgian based Sandra Sysojeva and her new ride, Piet Lenskens' 8-year old Belgian bred Dutch warmblood Mazzel van de Nethe (by Bernay x Krack C), won the small tour championship. They topped the Prix St Georges (69.019%), were second in the Inter I (67,30%) and were second in the Inter I kur (68,658%) so their overall total was good for the small tour victory in the Nationals.

"Mazzel is my new chestnut project," said Sysojeva. "I really believe in him. He needs more time, muscles and strength but I think he’s really a promising horse.”

The silver medal was won by Weronika Madej – Czerniec and her eight year old Hanoverian mare Valeur PR (by Vitalis x Benicio) on their international small tour debut. Trained by Ulla Salzgeber the pair has previously competed at three CDI's in the young horse classes. In Bialy Las they posted 66,373%, 66,912%, and 68,808.  The bronze medal was for Oliwia Laferi-Sapiej and 9-year old Oldenburg mare Furstin Francesca G (by Franziskus x Sieger Hit) after scoring 65,343%, 66,225%, and 67,325%

Sysojeva on Mazzel van de Nethe
Silver medal winner Madej-Czerniec commented, "it was our fourth time competing at this level, and our first Freestyle. The competition was big, but my mare was very brave – it was the first time she had competed so late under artificial lighting, and nothing distracted her. She was constantly focused on me, although I felt that, especially on the first day, it had taken a toll on her. She's with me, she listens to me, and she wants to do it. She likes applause, she likes to be admired, and I could tell she was happy to be there.  The judging might have been at points strict but definitely at international level. That’s where we want to aspire to. "

Seniors - Big Tour: Sysojeva Goes for Two

The Senior Grand Prix podium was taken by three team riders that represented Poland at last month’s Europeans at Crozet, France.

Sandra Sysojeva took her second, consecutive Polish Grand Prix champion's title on 9-year old Oldenburg mare Maxima Bella (by Millennium x Christ). Sysojeva has been taking the Polish dressage scene by storm since 2024. The Lithuanian rider switched to the Polish nationality in 2024 to pursue her Olympic dream and competed her then 8-year mare at 11 CDI's in 10 months time, including the coveted Paris Olympics. After a short, 2.5-month winter break, Sysojeva began the 2025 season full steam ahead in Doha. In seven months time she has shown her now 9-year old mare at eight CDI's including the World Cup Finals, CDIO Aachen and the European Championships. The CDI-W Bialy Las was not only good to reclaim the national title but also to help secure points for a spot at the 2026 World Cup Finals in the Central European League.

Grand Prix podium: Milczarek, Sysojeva, Krohn
"Maxima Bella is always very expressive and that’s why I tried to ride her calmly and nicely," said Sysojeva. "Our GP test here was with no mistakes. The judging is quite strict and you really have to learn your points. And with this kind of judging I am really happy about the results."

At the Polish Nationals the pair was unbeatable, winning the Grand Prix with 73,935 % and the Kur to Music with 77,995% for another gold medal. Polish silver went to Katarzyna Milczarek who only recently made her come back on 14-year old Lusitano Guapo. They scored  67,391 % in the Grand Prix and 72,820% in the Kur. German born Susanne Krohn and 13-year old Hanoverian Titolas (by Totilas x Stedinger) were good for bronze with 65,087%  and 70,255% in the freestyle.

Next year Polish Championships will move to the nearby Gościszów Equestrian Center, while Biały Las is planning to host CDI 4*.
