Retirement

Equestrian Life announced that 2.5 years after Aristede's last international, the horse has been retired from sport at age 19.

Originally Aristede was supposed to retire after the CDI Bawley Point in February 2023 but he arrived lame at the show. He pulled suspensory on his left hind and was rehabbed back to fitness. However, in January 2024 he chipped his front left cannon.

"At the completion of his second rehab in April, Astro kicked a hole in the gate and metal went through his hoof and led to an E.coli infection," Equestrian Life posted. "This led to a long stint at the Ballarat veterinary hospital as they had to drill into the hoof to fix the infection and remove the metal that had broken off inside. He was sound straight after his hoof had been drilled into, and was given the official all-clear in August."

In May he sustained a small suspensory tear on his left hind and Ware retired him on the spot. Astro is now enjoy a happy life in the field, while Lindsey has continued her career with young horses. She has been showing the 5-year olds  Brighton (by Birmingham x St. Moritz) and Florencia (by Furst Samarant x Rock Forever) nationally.
