2019 Danish Junior/Young Riders Championships

Junior rider Alexander Yde Helgstrand and young rider Celine Rørbæk Silfen became the winners and titeists at the 2019 Danish Junior/Young Riders Championships held in Ringsted, Denmark, on 23 - 25 August 2019.

Thirty-eight junior riders and twenty-five young riders traveled to Ringsted for the Nationals. The Danish Pony Championships will be held next weekend.

Junior Gold for the 2019 European Pony Champion

Fresh from winning the 2019 European Pony Championships in Strzegom, Poland, fifteen-year old Alexander Yde Helgstrand steered the 14-year old Danish mare Greves Sa Va (by Soprano x Romancier) to a clear victory in the junior division. Helgstrand topped the board in all three rounds, scoring 76.054% in the team test, 76.605% in the individual and 80.600% in the kur to music.

The silver went to Anders Uve Sjøbeck Hoeck, who was not selected on the Danish team for the Europeans in San Giovanni. The 16-year old Hoeck competed his 8-year old Blue Hors Zwobber (by Zack x Romanov) in two internationals this year, Nieuw en St. Joosland and Aarhus. In all six classes he each time scored over 70%. At the Danish Nationals then, Hoeck captured silver placing second in all three rounds. He posted 73.297%, 74.421% and 77.000%

The bronze medal went to Danish EC team rider Sara Aagaard Hyrm on the 13-year old Danish stallion Skovborgs Romadinov (by Romanov x Mago xx). The duo produced three consistent tests and ranked third three times: 72.162%, 73.842% and 76.275%.

Young Rider Gold for Rørbæk Silfen

Danish European Championship team rider Celine Rørbæk Silfen and her 14-year old Danish bred Romio Hojris (by Romanov x Don Schufro) finished her last year as a young rider with the Danish champion's title. After placing fourth in the first round with 71.447%, Silfen topped the board in round two (73.079%) and led the Kur to Music finals (76.425%). Her trainer Cathrine Dufour came to coach Silfen on Sunday straight from the 2019 European Dressage Championships in Rotterdam. Silfen totaed 220.951 points for the gold medal and national title.

The Young Rider podium: Ludvigsen, Silfen, Rasmussen

"We have been a bit unlucky at the Danish Championships. A few things always happened in the previous years, but this year we broke the spell. It's totally crazy," said a thrilled Celine.

The two other medals and steps on the podium were captured by riders who were not selected on the Danish team for the European Championships in San Giovanni.

The silver medal went to Laura Rasmussen aboard the 15-year old Danish bred Atoftens Dornier (by De Noir x Rambo). She won the first round with 72.421%, dropped to fourth in the individual test (71.500%- and rose to second place in the Kur to Music with 74.025% to total 217.946 points for silver.

Sophia Ludvigsen claimed bronze with the 9-year old Danish stallion Safari Klintgaard (by Sunny Boy x Don Schufro). She was third in the team test (71.868%), went to fifth place in the individual (69.921%) and climbed to fourth place in the Kur (73.200%) to total 214.989 points for bronze.

The three other Danish team riders in San Giovanni, Malene Aborg, Sara van Deurs Petersen, and Caroline Elsner, were fifth, sixth and seventeenth at the Nationals.
