2018 Danish Junior/Young Riders Championships

Junior rider Sara Aagaard Hyrm and young rider Karoline Rohmann became the winners of the 2018 Danish Junior and Young Riders Championships held in Ringsted, Denmark, on 10 - 12 August 2018.

A whopping field of 40 junior riders traveled to Ringsted to compete for the national title. Danish team member Sara Aagaard Hyrm and the 12-year old Danish stallion Skovborgs Romadinov (by Romanov x Mago xx) were unbeatable and won all three rounds to total 218.919 points for the gold medal. The combination got 72.243% in the team championship test, 72.526% in the individual test and 74.150% in the kur to music. The silver went to Anna Maarbjerg Piechnik and the 14-year old mare Kirks Dibsi (by Come Back II x Laurenz) with 215.324 points. The pair was second in the team test (72.000%), dropped to third place in the individual (69.974%) and was second in the freestyle (73.350%). Sophia Ludvigsen and the 8-year old stallion Gorklintgaards Jericho (by Jazz x Sunny Boy) scored the bronze with 214.877 points. They achieved 71.514%, 70.763% and 72.600%.

Twenty combinations competed in the young riders division and youth riders' routinier Karoline Rohmann topped the ranking on the 11-year old Danish bred Noosa Melody (by Don Romantic x Schwadroneur) and received the national Young Riders Champion's title. In their first year at Young Riders level and after winning the 2016 Danish Junior Riders' title, Rohmann and Noosa Melody were undefeated in all three rounds, scoring a winning 71.895% in the team test, 74.211% in the individual and 77.850% in the kur to music to total 223.956 points. It was sweet revenge for Josefine Hoffmann and Honnerups Driver (by Romanov x Don Schufro) at the Danish Nationals. The pair missed out on the 2018 European Young Riders Championships in Fontainebleau because Anna Kasprzak's Driver injured himself lightly right before departure to France, but in Ringsted the gelding was back. They were second in all three rounds with 70.553%, 71.368% and 75.525% to score silver with 217.446 points. Sara van Deurs Petersen and Katholm's Ronaldo (by Don Romantic x Rambo) could not find their stride at the European Championships and were relegated to the back end of the ranking, but at the Nationals they rose to third place and bronze with 214.411 points. They scored 70.132%, 71.079% and 73.200%.
