The selection trials for the 2015 German Foal Championship have kicked off on 30 May 2015 with a first, well attended foal show at Dressage Performance Centre in Lodbergen, Germany. A colt by Sandro Hit and a filly by Dante Weltino were the dressage stars of the show.
At the foal show in Lodbergen the strapping bay colt Sanzibar AK (by Sandro Hit x Furst Heinrich) from the Love Story dam line outclassed all other colts and scored 89.5 points in total. Bred by Andreas Klinker, this show champion sold on the spot to Danish stallion owner Lone Boegh Henriksen. The runner-up in the colt category was a Follow Me x Sir Donnerhall colt which is bred by Swiss Horse Management. He scored 84 points.
In the filly category Ferdi Ostholt's Dante Weltino x Dimaggio filly took highest honour with a score of 85.5 points. She edged out Bernadette Brune's chestnut filly Crystalin BB (by Bordeaux out of Cookie Island (by De Niro x Rubinstein)), who finished second with 81.5 points. One day later tragedy struck for Brune's Cookie Island. The mare collapsed and could not be saved. Fortunately Crystalin BB has been successfully taken on by a foster dam.
