Matthias Bouten has left Lars and Beatrice Baumgürtel's Freiberger Hof, where he was head trainer for one year. Marcus Hermes has replaced Bouten, who has decided to set up shop independently in Alpen-Veen, Germany.

One year ago, Bouten left Isabell Werth's stable in Rheinberg where he was assistant trainer for seven years in order to relocate to Freiberger Hof.  The Baumgürtels invested in high quality horses for Matthias to ride, including the 2010 Trakehner Licensing champion Imhotep (by Gribaldi x Hohenstein) and the Westfalian premium stallion Abegglen (by Ampere x Carabas).  Kira Wulferding's former ride Callas FH (by Carabas x Partout) was successfully shown at S-level.

The Baumgürtlers regret Bouten's departure. "Our co-operation was meant for the long term and we clearly focused on buying horses for Matthias," they stated. Bouten cited "personal reasons" for his departure.

Marcus Hermes has now stepped into Bouten's shoes at Freiberger Hof. Hermas was training at Hubertus Schmidt's yard and has recently worked for Rudolf Zeilinger. Monica Theodorescu's student Manuela Nitschke will support Hermes with the young horses and ponies.
