
Cathrine Dufour, the triple bronze medal winner at the 2017 European Championships, has been nominated for the prestigious Danish Athlete of the Year 2017 title. The award will be handed out at the Sport 2017 gala on 6 January 2018.
Dufour is joined by 14 other top performing Danish atheletes across all sport disciplines. Her fellow contenders are Kamilla Rytter Juhl og Christinna Pedersen, Viktor Axelsen, Amalie Dideriksen, Jakob Fuglsang, Christian Eriksen, Kvindelandsholdet, Emma Jørgensen, Maja Alm, Daniel Wagner, Lisa Gjessing, Lærke Berg Rasmussen og Christina Juhl Johansen, Katja Salskov-Iversen og Jena Mai Hansen, Pernille Blume og Caroline Wozniacki.
The award is handed out by the Danish newspaper Jyllands Posten in partnership with the Danish Sport Federation (DIF). The winner gets a cash prize of 75,000 DKK (10,000 euro).
The award is decided by popular vote in combination with an expert jury which includes Mette Bock (Minister of Culture), Niels Nygaard (DIF chair), Morten Molholm (DIF director), Frank Jensen (Team Denmark chair), Lone Hansen (Team Denmark director) and Jacob Nybroe (editor in chief Jyllands Posten) and Troels Henriksen (sports editor Jyllands Posten).
At the Sport 2016 gala last January Dufour already won the "Olympic Hope" award.
