Tiger Lilly Nomia Named 2026 KWPN Mare Champion

The bay Tiger Lilly Nomia was named the champion of the 2026 KWPN Mare Championships in Ermelo, the Netherlands, on 29 August 2026.

A group of 11 mares to the champion's ring for a great conclusion of the 2026 KWPN Mare Championship and the final ranking was made by inspectors Brecht D’Hoore, Floor Dröge and Menke Hoekstra. Interestingly the top three ranked mares carry much German blood in their pedigree.

Tiger Lilly Nomia was proclaimed best of show. The 3-year old filly is by Sir Donnerhall is out of elite mare Balenciaga Nomia (by Johnson x Rohdiamant x Equador x Burggraaf).

“A mare with a very beautiful conformation, a magnificent front, and a very beautifully modeled body. This mare stands out because she really moves upwards, has a lot of ease, and can switch gears easily,” said Brecht D'Hoore.

Co-owner Sander van Straten said, “this mare has a lot of expression, presence, and a good temperament, which is also characteristic of the bloodline. We have already flushed a few embryos from her; our intention is for her to become our foundation mare.” Sander co-owns her with dressage rider Astrid Langenberg.

Top Three

The reserve title went to Tijuanna, who is by Dynamic Dream out of Straight Horse Sezuanna (by Zack x Don Schufro). She is bred by Academy Bartels VOF out of a full sister to Young Horse World Champion Sezuan.

“A mare with great length in the body. She walks well and shows a lot of agility in the trot, with the hind leg always moving in the right direction.”

Egbert Scheps' mare Tulipa ES (by McLaren out of elite mare Orchidee ES (by Vitalis x Stedinger)) finished third in this National Mare Championship.

“A mare with an exceptional front and a very beautiful, long-lined model. She trots with a lot of front and a great deal of impulsion in the legs.”
