Dutch born American Grand Prix rider Eliane Cordia-van Reesema has called an end to her career in the saddle. She has stopped all her activities as a rider and allocated the ride on her two top horses to U.S. Olympian Kasey Perry-Glass.
Jewel Court Stud
The 49-year old Cordia owns Jewel Court Stud which has farms in Connecticut and Florida (USA) as well as the original home base at her late father's stable in Wuustwezel, Belgium.
Eliane was born into the affluent Dutch shipping family Cordia which enabled her to pursue her dreams at all levels. She got her Bachelor's degree in Business in Barcelona and did the Masters Education for certified riders in Deurne, The Netherlands.
She initially trained with Sven Rothenberger, in the early 1990s but in 1999 moved to Bartels Academy in The Netherlands, to be coached by Tineke and Imke Bartels. Her first Grand Prix horse was Jewel’s Caracol (by Cartusch).
In 2006 Eliane moved to the United States after meeting her husband Volckert van Reesema, also a shipping heir, who ran the New York marathon alongside Eliane's brother Keesjan. THey married and have three children: Jasper, Fleur, and Nicoline.
Jewel's Adelante

As of 2017 Codiak (by Cristallo I x Carabas) became her main ride and showed hum for two seasons at small tour level after which a four year break followed. He returned to the arena in 2022 at Grand Prix level and was shown through March 2025, her last international competition.
Quality Horse Stock
Eliane had a barn full of nice horses, including Flynn (which sold to Alexandra Reid), Fellow (by Amazing star x Rousseau), Deparon (which sold to Julio Mendoza). She also discovered Julio Mendoza's Jewel's Goldstrike, who took the Ecuadorean to the 2024 Olympics and individual gold at the 2023 Pan American Games.

Eliane's last international horse alongside Codiak was the home-bred Q-Jewel's Quivive (by Sir Weihbach x Ravel). She showed the 10-year old gelding at international small tour level at the 2025 Global Dressage Festival. She rode four tests and finished in the top three thrice.
Hanging Up Her Tails

"If I were to aim for the Olympic Games it would mean being away from my family a lot for the next three years. My eldest son is 18 and this was his last year at home, so I quit," Eliane told Eurodressage. "I'm working now in the family company and our project in Afrida. Family comes first now."
Both Codiak and Quivive have gone into training with Kasey Perry-Glass, while Deparon went to Julio Mendoza already a while ago.
"The other horses sold. For me it was most important they went to a good home," Eliane explained. "Kasey and I are alike when it comes to horsemanship and riding. I can't wait to see where those horses will go in the future."
