The 2026 CDI Troisdorf, scheduled for 16 - 19 April 2026, has been cancelled as owner Lukas Blatzheim is in the process of selling the Haus Rott equestrian center. He will be pursuing a new chapter in his life in South Africa.

Haus Rott

Haus Rott is a former manor house with an adjacent equestrian facility that ha a long history dating back to 1289. It used to be a fortified complex with an extensive system of ramparts and ditches. It was the seat of the Lords of Deutz-Rott and got destroyed in 1416. The outer bailey and the current residential buildings were constructed in the 16th/17th centuries. Remnants of the residential tower and the fortifications also still exist.

Over the centuries, the estate passed through numerous owners via marriage, inheritance, and sale. From the mid-18th century until 1923, it belonged to the Spies von Büllesheim family. In 1969 the municipality of Sieglar acquired Haus Rott and the surrounding area. Until 2019, the property was used by, among others, a riding club. Since 2021, it has been privately developed into a residential area.

Owned by dressage rider Lukas Blatzheim since January 2019, the equestrian center hosted its first international dressage competition in October 2021.

Since then the CDI Troisdorf has become a staple on the FEI calendar for intimate, low pressure international dressage competitions. Since 2022 there were two CDI's - a spring and autumn edition - each year. In 2025 they hosted one.

For 2026 there was a spring CDI scheduled but it has been cancelled.

Blatzheim to South Africa

Show host Lukas Blatzheim is selling the property and is drafting a new future for his life - with horses - in South Africa.

"I will relocate for the winters to South Africa and spend the summers in Europe," Blatzheim told Eurodressage. "I want to focus a bit more on competing for the next two or three years, but the mid-term plan is to completely relocate to South Africa with a farm and bring horses to South Africa. I want to split my time between Mallorca and spend most of the year in South Africa near Cape Town."

Lukas added that in the long run he just wants to enjoy his horses for fun and focus on real estate. "Who knows how the competition world with the FEI will develop over the next few years," he pondered. "I love horses and want to focus more on pleasure and less on competition."

Blatzheim made his international show debut in the medium tour amateur classes in 2019 with Ulises  (by Obelisk x Transvaal) and Louis (by Lastro x Legat). In 2021 he showed C. Design van het Bloemenhof (by Vivaldi x Prince Thatch xx) at small tour level, while he competed Errol (by Earl x Chasseur) at Grand Prix level. In 2023 he showed small tour horses Sammy d'Amour (by San Amour x Wolkentanz II) and Johnny Depp (by Jazz x Sir Donnerhall), while in 2024 he focused on young horses owned by clients: Ben Benito (by Ben Benicio x Liberator), Valerius (by Vitalis x Welt Hit II), and Bavaria (by Benicio x Riccio).
