Four dressage stallions - United, Ampere, All at Once and Ferguson - have been proclaimed "Keur" stallions by the KWPN breeding society at the 2026 KWPN Stallion Licensing in 's Hertogenbosch.
For the Hanoverian bred Ferguson the title comes posthumously; for the 25-year old United it's been long awaiting.
United
United (by Krack C out of Nessica, by TCN Partout, breeder J. Verputten) was fourth ranked at the KWPN licensing and later received very high marks in the performance test. United has contributed significantly to breeding, including the preferent stallion Bordeaux. In sport, United made his mark with no fewer than 30 Grand Tour horses and around 50 Small Tour horses. These include Anne Meulendijks' MDH Avanti, who helped the Dutch team win a silver medal at the 2019 European Dressage Championships in Rotterdam, the Olympic horse Aquamarijn, and Pavo Cup winner TC Athene. United also sired more than 100 predicate mares.
United showed off his skills at the Brabanthallen, even demonstrating a fit, extended trot at the age of 25. Breeder J. Verputten and owners Joop van Uytert and Marthijs Brouwer were present for the ceremony.
Ferguson
The Hanoverian bred Ferguson (by Floriscount out of Liebelei, by Lauries Crusador xx), bred by Erica Luetjen, has made a name for himself in the Dutch breeding industry with his offspring. In 2023, the stallion died far too early at the age of 12, just as the Small Tour stallion was about to make his Grand Prix debut.
Many of his offspring are performing well in young horse competitions, and his first offspring are now competing at Grand Prix level. Two of his successful Grand Prix offspring have competed in the arena: Kyton under Emmelie Scholtens and European Championship horse Lord Platinum under Curro Benitez Sanchez, who also competed in three World Championships for young dressage horses. World Championship horse Nero also competed in the arena under Hans Peter Minderhoud. His sons Lex Luthor-YT and Kunz are also competing at the highest level. My Precious and Lightning Star won the Pavo Cup. This, combined with his three approved sons, Ritmo de la Noche and Sensation Gold, ensures that Ferguson receives the "keur" presidency tonight.
Ferguson's sons Kyton and Lord Platium entered the arena at the 2026 KWPN Licensing with Emmelie Scholtens and Curro Benitez Sanchez and delivered a beautiful freestyle at the highest level. For owners Harld Bruinier and Rom Vermunt, Ferugson's "keur" certificate came as a complete surprise. While Hans Peter Minderhoud entered the arena with Nero (by Ferguson), who was competing in the World Championship for Young Dressage Horses under Bart Veeze, Vermunt and Bruinier were brought forward for Fergruson's tribute.
Ampere
The 21-year old Ampère (by Rousseau out of Larivola (keur pref), by Flemmingh, breeder: AT Rensen) made a great impression as a young horse and became champion in 's-Hertogenbosch in 2008. A sporting career never really materialized due to injury: breeding took priority.
Ampere was very successful in that field and sired no fewer than 60 Grand Tour horses and 60 approved stallions, including the KWPN stallion Franklin. His two-time Olympic son, All At Once, competes in the arena under Lara van Nek. The Olympic Flambeau, ridden by Larissa Pauluis, and Times Kismet, ridden by Jessica von Bredow-Werndl, are also two very striking offspring. Despite the lack of a sporting career of his own, Ampère has certainly proven capable of passing on the right sporting genes to his offspring.
At the 2026 KWPN Licensing in 's-Hertogenbosch, the "keur" (selection) predicate was presented to this 21-year-old stallion, who is stationed in the United States since 2016. Breeder AT Rensen was present in 's-Hertogenbosch for the ceremony honoring their stallion.
All at Once
The 18-year old All at Once (by Ampere out of Wynona RB, by Gribaldi) received the "Keur" predicate.
Under Yessin Rahmouni, All at Once competed in two Olympic Games and several other major championships. Lara van Nek, daughter of breeder Willeke Bos of Stal 104, has since taken over the reins and successfully competes the stallion in the U25 division.
All at Once doesn't have a large number of offspring. In his early years as a stallion, he was stationed in Germany, and his first crops produced eight predominantly German-bred Grand Prix horses. All at Once shares his talent for piaffe and passage. At the CDI-W Amsterdam the bay Alive and Kicking with Charlotte Dujardin, and in the Netherlands, Limited Edition is successfully competing at Grand Prix level with Marie-José Calis. His most notable offspring are also successful offspring of his breeder, Willeke Bos: Jatilinda became national champion and already produced the KWPN stallion Obsession Taonga, and Opoque showed some striking sons from his first crop.
All at Once, ridden by Lara van Nek, performed a beautiful freestyle at Grand Prix level in Den Boischn after which the stallion was declared "Keur."
