German horse dealer Jochen Arl has sold Nadine Capellmann's international Grand Prix horse Waitoni to Mexico. Capellmann's Hocus Pocus has moved to Dutch team rider Rowena Weggelaar in The Netherlands.

Waitoni

Waitoni is a 14-year old Westfalian gelding  by Wynton out of Welt-Clara (by Weltmeyer x Donnerhall). He is bred at Gestüt Glanetal.

As a young horse he was first shown in 2015 by Aikje Fehl and Alexandra Sessler before selling to Jochen Arl. He handed the ride to American Kya Anderson, who successfully competed Waitoni in several national classes at the 2017 Global Dressage Festival in Wellington. Shortly afterwards Arl sold the chestnut to Nadine Capellmann as a future hopeful.

Nadine put Waitoni in training with Borja Carrascosa before she premiered him in November 2018 at M-level. She took him to Prix St Georges in 2019 and their Grand Prix debut followed in 2022. They campaigned at one CDI in Sint-Truiden in April 2023. For the next two years Nadine regularly showed Waitoni at national Grand Prix level.

Waitoni has now been sold for Mexican Santiago Ortiz Die to ride. He is aiming for the 2026 World Championships in Aachen.  Ortiz is a seasoned Mexican team rider, having represented his country at the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games and at 2023 Pan American Games. He has now has set his sights on WEG in Aachen and works out of the exclusive equestrian centre Piedra Grande near Mexico City.

Hocus Pocus

Capellmann's 13-year old Dutch warmblood Hocus Pocus has returned into Arl's ownership and is now allocated to Dutch team rider Rowena Weggelaar.

Hocus Pocus is by Apache out of Charola Utopia (by Osmium x Jazz) and bred at De Bemi Hoeve. He was discovered by Jochen Arl in the U.K. and produced by Anne Lene Holmen before Jochen sold him to Capellmann in the spring of 2021.

Nadine debuted the chestnut at small tour level in the spring of 2022 and moved him to medium tour level in the summer of that year. They've been showing at Grand Prix level at national shows in Germany in 2023. In 2024 Jessica Süss had the ride.

As Capellmann has decided to focus on her younger Grand Prix horses, Furioso V (by Fahrenheit x Decarpentary) and Antonia (by All at Once x Ehrenpreis), as well as coaching her daughter, 14-year old Celine Capellmann, on Dry Fly (by Diamond Hit x Friedensfurst), Arl traded in Hocus Pocus for the 6-year old talented KWPN mare Olivia (by Trafalger x Vivaldi).

Hocus Pocus is now being trained by Rowena Weggelaar in The Netherlands. The 22-year old rising Dutch star represented The Netherlands at the 2025 European Championships in Crozet and has gelled quickly with her new big tour horse. The pair has been invited to the Dutch squad training sessions and is scheduled to make its Grand Prix debut in the new year.
