Jean-Philippe Siat's Lovesong Retired from Sport

French Grand Prix rider Jean-Philippe Siat has retired his number one in the barn, Lovesong, from sport. Dressprod first announced the news. 

Lovesong is an 18-year old Hanoverian mare by Locksley II out of Wilma (by Wolkenstein II x Wanderer). She is bred by Friedrich-Wilhelm Postel and a full sister to Lacoste.

Young Horse Success

Originally owned by Herbert Kruse, the chestnut mare sold as a young horse to Marie Christine Pointier in France at the 2012 Hanoverian auction in Verden. 

Pointier allocated the ride to Siat as a successor for his 2009 French team horse Tarski van de Zuuthoeve. The pair made its show debut in 2012 and finished 9th at the 2012 French Young Horse Championships. They were 6th a year later at the 2013 French Young Horse Championships.

Their international show debut at the 2013 CDI Vierzon in the 6-year old classes. Three years later their CDI debut at small tour level followed in Deauville and from there they went to Le Mans. In 2017 they remained at small tour level and shwoed in Lier, Saumur, Compiegne, Roosendaal, and Deauville

Seven Years at Grand Prix

Their international Grand Prix debut was in February 2019 in Le Mans, scoring 64.565% in their first GP test. That same year they represented France in the FEI Nations Cup at the 2019 CDIO Geesteren.

The pair competed internationally through 2022 at shows in Le Mans, Dortmund, Ornago, Crozet, Madrid, Doha, Hagen. they were long-listed (JO/JEM) for the 2021 Paris Olympics but didn't make the short list. Their last CDI was in Geesteren in June 2022.

The pair went on to show nationally at Grand Prix level through June 2025. They were fifth at the 2022 French Dressage Championships and 9th at the 2025 French Grand Prix Championships, which was their last show.

Retirement

Lovesong went down the centerline a final time for her retirement ceremony in Saint Lo on Saturday 8 November 2025.

Nicknamed Poupette, Lovesong was honoured by her team: "Starting in the 5-year-old category in 2012, LoveSong patiently climbed all the ranks up to the International Grand Prix, always with the same determination and that strong temperament which made her unique. A real mare, demanding, but with rare courage and intensity. And a rider, Jean-Philippe Siat, who knew how to gain his trust and reveal his full potential, with that unique complicity that only true stories of sport and respect can create."
