Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour Nominated for Danish Sports Name of the Year 2025

The Danish Sports Federation (DIF) has nominated dressage rider Cathrine Laudrup-Dufour for the title of "Sports Name of the Year."

The title is handed out t the DR Sport's annual gala in Herning on 3 January 2026.

Eight prizes in total are handed out at the gala, but the "Sports Name of the Year" is the big one for which 15 athletes in total are nominated "for their extraordinary sporting achievements over the past year."

Ridehesten reported that five names have already been announced, including Dufour's who won team bronze and double individual silver at the 2025 European Championships in Crozet. The other four are Jonas Vingegaard (cycling), Anders Antonsen (badminton),  Mathias Fullerton (archery), and Rikke Mæng (shooting).

This is the second time that Dufour has been nominated for this title. She was also in 2017.

The award has been handed out since 1991. An equestrian rider has never before won it.
