Danish breeder Jan Pedersen continues his reign as chair of the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses. He was re-elected as president at the 2025 WBFSH General Assembly in South Africa.
Pedersen has been president of the WBFSH since 1999. He has been re-elected for the 13th time for a three-year period.

The WBFSH brings together 90 breeding associations from all over the world and has its main office in Vilhelmsborg, Denmark. It was Danish warmblood breeding manager Egon Fraehr who put forward Pedersen for this role within WBFSH back in the late 1990s.
"I am of course very pleased about my re-election. It will be my last," Pedersen told Ridehesten. "In WBFSH we have many large and important tasks ahead of us. There is no doubt that international cooperation and data exchange are more important than ever. I look forward to helping to influence this development through WBFSH."

“The world around us is changing and that certainly applies to the breeding community," said Van Daalen. "All studbooks are facing rising costs and at the same time, we're seeing a trend of fewer mares being covered and fewer foals being registered. Furthermore, welfare is becoming an increasingly important issue, not only in the Netherlands but also globally. I'm convinced that together we are stronger, and that's why I'm looking forward to the future.”
Ralph van Venrooij, KWPN Head of Breeding, has been a member of the WBFSH Executive Board since 2019 and will support Van Daalen in his new role.
Leaving the WBFSH Board and Executive Committee will be Rudi Eerdekens and Vice President Stephan Kelchtermans who joined the board in 2017 following the retirement of Rik van Miert.
