Spanish Olympian Jose Daniel Martin Dockx is making a major change in his life, leaving home country Spain, to head Hampton Green Farm in Ocala, Florida.
Dockx has been hired as head trainer and technical director and will start in this position in December.
Kimberly van Kampen
Dockx rose to prominence as a Spanish team rider thanks to the sponsorship of Kimberly van Kampen.
They began collaborating in 2007 and Van Kampen provided him his career-starting international horse (Encanto XI) as well as career-maker, Grandioso, whom he rode at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics. As of 2014 Dockx rode exclusively for Hampton Green Farm, ensuring him a constant supply of horses, such as Adelante, Idolo, Americano, Vaquero HGF, Bolero CXLVIII, Ataturc DUC, Campanero HGF, Oxido, and Mejorano HGF.
In 2019 Van Kampen and Dockx parted ways. Van Kampen moved her business from Wellington, Florida to Ocala and for the next six years focused on youth riders, whereas Dockx continued his career with Paco de Santiago's Malagueno. He also became the ANCCE PRE young horse team trainer.
Move to the U.S.A.
After a period of focusing on developing youth riders -- Kerrigan Gluch, Sophia Schults and Kim's owner daughter Justine Boyer -- Van Kampen is now ready to return to the big time.
Van Kampen and Dockx reunited and Kim invited Dockx to head Hampton Green Farm.
"We have continued to grow our breeding program in Ocala, producing competitive young horses and promising Grand Prix prospects," she stated. "These horses will greatly benefit from Dani’s unique ability to develop them for international competition. We have high expectations for this next chapter and are thrilled to renew our partnership with him."
