Micky Schelstraete's Dutch young riders team horse Venicia OLD has been sold.
Venicia OLD is a 9-year old Oldenburg mare by Vivaldi out of Dosalla (by Don Frederico x Sandro Hit). She is bred by SVS Sportvision Stables in Germany.
German Start
The chestnut mare first began her sport career in Germany in 2012. Czech rideer Eva Niklova, who worked at Hof Kasselmann at the time, competed the 5-year old mare first.
Sold to Taiwanese Carol Hweijan Lee, the mare moved in training with Annika Korte in 2022 and she presented her at nine shows, including their CDI debut in Troisdorf in the 6-year old test, winning the Oldenburg young horse championships in Rastede, and placing 15th in the finals at the Bundeschampionate.
Venicia was produced and shown up to Prix St Georges level by Korte in 2023.
The Netherlands
The mare moved to The Netherlands and ended up with Dutch young rider Micky Schelstraete.
They made their CDI show debut at the Aachen Festival 4 Dressage in March 2023 and showed in Tolbert and Aachen before heading to the 2024 European Young Riders Championships in St. Margarethen, where The Netherlands won team silver and they finished 9th in the Kur to Music finals. The pair won the 2024 Dutch Young Riders Championships
Sold
As the daughter of Dutch Grand Prix rider Jonna Schelstraete, who runs a sales yard, Micky has seen all of her team horses be sold in the past. Venicia is the next one to move to a new owner. Schelstraete previously saw her junior riders team horses Grand-Charmeur and Knight Rider sold.
"It went super fast. The first people that came to see her where love struck. It went so well when they tried her out," said Micky. "I'm so proud of what we achieved together. Venicia is a real, little fighter who'll go through thick and thin for you."
Venicia sold to Taiwanese dressage rider Sara Wang, who has been competing at national small tour level with Chia-Hui Lai's 19-year old KWPN bred Barrichello (by Quite East x Indoctro). she also rides the 15-year old Hanoverian Bel Ami 77 (by Belissimi x Alabaster).
"Such a special girl with so many amazing experiences," Wang wrote. "Can't wait for the future with her."
