The French equestrian federation has announced the team that will represent France on home turf at the 2025 European Dressage Championships in Crozet, France, on 26 - 31 August 2025.
Team trainer Jean Morel and the federal sports management team made the following selection:
- Alexandre Ayache on Holmevangs Jolene or Ruling Olivia
- Pauline Basquin on Sertorius de Rima Z
- Bertrand Liegard on Ginger
- Anne-Sophie Serre on Jibraltar de Massa
Strikingly absent from the team is French Olympic team rider and team high scorer in Paris, Corentin Pottier with Gotilas. Pottier, who is competing at the World Young Horse Championships in Verden this week, last showed his 14-year old KWPN bred Gotilas (by Totilas x Ferro) at the 2025 World Cup Finals in Basel, last April.
Morel commented on his team: "These four pairs are on an upward trend. Following the week in Mâcon, where we held a federal training camp before the CDI 3*, everything is back to normal for Pauline Basquin (she withdrew from the CDIO Aachen). The competition allowed her to gain confidence, she won with 72% and more without forcing. We hope that this will improve further between now and the championships. Anne-Sophie Serre confirmed the results obtained at the CDI 3* in Jardy, her horse is in good shape and should continue to improve. Alexandre Ayache, after the problems encountered during the CDI 4* in Aachen, returned with two mares likely to compete in the European championships. Between now and the finals on August 19, we will choose the one which is in the best shape at that time. Finally, Bertrand Liegard confirmed the qualities of his mare. He still has some difficulty achieving a clear round, but we are confident because this week in Mâcon has strengthened the bonds between each member of the team. Like last year at the Olympic Games, the strength of the French team lies in being together and forming a collective."
