Kirsten Brouwer will not be making her come back with Foundation RR, the Grand Prix horse that launched her into the international big tour.  The recently castrated gelding has been leased to a Dutch junior rider.

Foundation is a 15-year old KWPN stallion by United out of Wiana (by Jazz) and is bred by Mr Naber. He was originally named Ferdinand. He is owned by Brouwer in partnership with Rosanne and Robert van Stuivenberg.

Grand Prix Career Starter

As a young horse he finished 11th under Brouwer in the 2015 Pavo Cup Finals, sixth under Franka Loos in the 2016 Pavo Cup Finals, and second under Loos in the 2017 KWPN Stallion Competition Finals.

Brouwer, who is best known as a WCYH medal winning young horse rider, had her big break through on the international Grand Prix scene in the winter of 2022-2023, scoring 75.087% in the Grand Prix at the 2023 CDI-W Amsterdam. They were in the running to make it to the 2023 World Cup Finals in Omaha until an injury right before the 2023 CDI-W 's Hertogenbosch sidelined them for more than a year.

The pair became squad listed at the start of 2024 and was long-listed for the 2024 Olympics despite no recent shows. Their planned come back at the 2024 CDI-W Amsterdam was postponed. They ended up only doing two shows this year of which one was the 2024 Dutch Dressage Championships, where the still stallion refused to be in the front of the aids.

In the late summer of 2024, Foundation was gelded.  The horse did not return to the international arena since his February 2023 CDI start in Neumunster.

Junior Rider

The chestnut has now been leased to Dutch junior rider Jaidy de Winter as her schoolmaster.

"I will continue to support and coach them, which allows me to keep enjoying Foundation in a new way," Brouwer stated.

Jaidy de Winter is daughter of Dutch horse dealer Judy de Winter. Jaidy has mainly competed on ponies in The Netherlands and is now riding horses at junior level. She is yet to make her international show debut.
