At the start of 2025 triple Olympian Yvonne Losos de Muniz has decided to take a break from competition and skip the 2025 Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida, for the first time in eleven years.
Losos also has retired her top horse, Aquamarijn, after the 2024 Olympics.
Aquamarijn
Aquamarijn is a 19-year old KWPN mare by United out of Tourmalijn (by Gribaldi x). She is bred by P. van Kessel.
The mare made its international show debut under Fransje van der Meer at Under 25 Grand Prix level in 2015 and sold a year later to Yvonne Losos de Muniz.
The mare took over the baton from Foco Loco W and between 2016 and 2024 competed in 103 international classes. They debuted at the CDI Biarritz in October 2016. Their first major Championship was the 2019 World Cup Final in Gothenburg (16th with 68.868%) followed by the 2019 Pan American Games, where they finished fourth.
Paris was the mare's last show. At age 19 she was the oldest horse in the pack.
"I look back at Paris 2024 with immense gratitude for the journey I’ve been on. My participation in these Olympic Games is the result of years of effort, dedication, and the incredible support I’ve received throughout my story," Yvonne said about her third Olympics.
Break from Competition
Losos de Muniz has decided to focus more on coaching as of now and "take a break from competition."
With a summer base in Gijon, Spain, she has decided this year not to travel to Wellington, Florida, for the 2025 Global Dressage Festival. Yvonne has been spending winters in Wellington every year since 2015 as it is also close to her husband Edoardo's native Dominican Republic.
Yvonne considers Idwinaretto (by Everdale x Johnson) her number one in the barn after Aquamarijn's retirement. Grand Prix mare Famke PF (by Houston x Cabochon)) did her last CDI in September 2023. Famke is set to make a comeback in spring. Yvonne also owned the now 15-year old Felicia (by Vivaldi x Polanski) which she last showed in Le Mans in June 2021. She was sent back to Helgstrand in Denmark to be sold. Anne-Mette Strandby competed her at one national show in June 2022. The mare did not sell and joined Yvonne's breeding programme.
