American five-time Olympian Steffen Peters premiered a new international dressage horse in the small tour at the 2023 CDI-W Thermal. Peters has taken over the ride on the American WCYH team horse Mani's Endeavor and ridden him to a double debut victory on 17 - 19 November 2023.

Steffen's successful weekend at Thermal, where he also clinched the World Cup win on his Tokyo Olympic partner Suppenkasper, happened three weeks before the rider suffered from a pulmonary embolism which landed him in the hospital. Steffen is now recovering at home.

Mani's Endeavor

Mani's Endeavor is a 7-year old Hanoverian gelding by Morricone out of Flox (by Foundation x Hohenstein x World Cup I). He is bred by Elizabeth Kapp and owned by American Nasri Mani.

He arrived in California in February 2019 as a 3-year old and was first competed by Matt Cunningham.  By the autumn of 2020 Shannon Peters was on board and she showed him briefly.

In February 2021 Mani decided to give Jennifer Hoffmann a chance on the bay. Hoffmann at the time was living in California but competing in Wellington, Florida.

"He had been through multiple riders, all of who either didn’t get along with him or didn’t really believe in him," Hoffmann told Eurodressage. "It took me a little bit to get to know him and figure him out but then we became an absolute amazing partnership. It was an absolutely perfect match. We were incredibly successful and accomplished every goal that his owner and myself set out to achieve. We fulfilled many of her dreams."

Jennifer Hoffmann

Hoffmann premiered Endeavor in the national show ring in June 2021 at the CDS SD Road to Championships Summer Dressage in San Diego.  Their international show debut was in Wellington in March 2022, where they won the 6-year old international young horses classes. The topped the board in both CDI's with solid 84-85% marks.

These scores earned them a berth to the 2022 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo for Team USA. They finished 16th in the 6-year old Finals.

In 2023 Hoffmann and Mani's Endeavor returned to Wellington and did one CDI in the 7-year old division, finishing second twice with 77.965% and 73.300%. The goal was to requalify for the 2023 World Young Horse Championships in Ermelo, but they were stopped in their tracks.

"We had our sights on qualifying again," said Hoffmann. "He had matured immensely and our partnership had become even more bonded. He showed so much talent for the Grand Prix and we had even played with 7 one tempi changes and piaffe-passage which he has so much talent for. He always scored high on gaits and had an exceptional walk which got us scores to 8, and 9,9.5 in trot and canter. I believe in him so much."

Return to Steffen

In the spring of 2023 Endeavor was in Germany and owner Mani put the horse in the care of  Sarah and Lee Tubman.

"This summer unfortunately together with my husband we had to make the difficult decision to part ways with his owner," Hoffmann explained. "I truly wish Endeavor and Steffen much luck, success and happiness on their way to Grand Prix. I will always be their number one fan and I will be always grateful to have played such an important role in Endeavor’s future."

From Tubman Endeavor went back to California, where the owner is based as the founder of the La Jolla Cosmetic Laser Clinic. The gelding returned in the stalls of Steffen and Shannon Peters.

"I was lucky to take over the reins in July this year," Steffen told Eurodressage. "The plan is to show in the small tour this season. My friend and generous owner, Dr. Nasrin Mani, is keeping him."

Steffen premiered Mani's Endeavor in the Prix St Georges at the national show CDS SD Road to Championships Summer Dressage at the end of July. Their international debut was in Thermal three weeks ago, where they won the Prix St Georges with 71.088% and the Intermediaire I with 69.441%.

"His temperament, and his ability to collect," Steffen said about the qualities of this horse. "He is a super kind horse."
