DSP Der Kleine Champion, the winner of the 6-year old dressage pony finals at the 2023 Bundeschampionate, has been allocated a new rider. German pony rider Hannah Charlotte Isbruch has taken over the reins.
Der Kleine Champion is a 6-year old German Riding pony gelding by Diamond Touch out of Lady Farbenfroh (by Londontime x Walt Disney I). He is bred by Heike Schulmerig.
Triple Bundeschampionate Medal Winner
The chestnut has been a four-time Bundeschampionate finalist and three-time medal winner, collecting all colours: gold, silver and bronze.
He was first competed as a 3-year old by Michele Schulmerig, who took him to the 2020 Bundeschampionate where they earned bronze. A year later they returned to Warendorf and this time got the silver medal at the 2021 Bundeschampionate.
In 2022 Amely Böh took over the ride, but alternated it with Schulmerig. Under Böh the pony was fifth in the 5-year old dressage pony division at the 2022 Bundeschampionate.
In 2023 it was Amelie Bertazzoni's turn to compete the gelding. She rode him to gold at the 2023 Bundeschampionate in the finals for 6-year olds, making Der Kleine Champion one of the most eligible young dressage ponies in Germany. She also rode the pony at the 2023 German Pony Championships in Munich at FEI pony level, where they finished 14th in the second round. Only 12 moved to the freestyle final.
The ride on the pony has now been secured by the Isbruch family. The 14-year old Hannah will continue the sport career of the gelding.
Hannah made her international show debut this year at the 2023 CDI Exloo in January aboard Dabia Dior (by D-Day x Valido's Highlight). She began competing ponies in 2017 with Der Kleine Prinz (by Foxhunter Pantheon x Boreas Ubbo) and later moved onto ponies Steendieks Dodi Lafajette (by FS Don't Worry x Diamant de Semilly) and Pegasus Forever (by Prometheus x Flying Dream) before acquiring Dabia Dior.
Hannah trains with her mother Sonja.
