The Oldenburg Breeding society (GOV) has decided to move its main stallion licensing from November 2022 to 12 - 14 January 2023.
The next "Oldenburg Stallion Days" will, therefore, take place two months later than normal.
"By moving the licensing date, the individual development of the stallions and the idea of animal welfare will be taken more into account," the GOV stated. "Since the young stallions have to be at least 30 months old at the time of the licensing, according to the Guidelines for Animal Welfare in Equestrian Sport, and since the foaling season has moved further and further into May and June in the past years, the January date significantly increases the lot of potential licensing candidates. Without this change, many promising young stallions would not get the chance to present themselves at the Oldenburg main licensing."
The pre-selection of the dressage and jumping stallions is planned for the end of November 2022. The stallions eligible to move on to the main licensing will be presented in hand as before.
