German Olympic team contender Dorothee Schneider is back in the saddle, riding her top horse Showtime, just three weeks after fracturing her collarbone in a tragic accident in which she lost her fourth GP horse, Fohlenhof's Rock 'n Rose.

Fractured Collarbone

Schneider and the Heicke family's 17-year old Hanoverian mare Fohlenhof's Rock 'n Rose (by Rubin-Royal x Feiner Stern) placed third in the Grand Prix at the national show in Pforzheim. During the lap of honour the mare suddenly collapsed and died of an aortic rupture, injuring the rider in the process.

Schneider was transported to the hospital by ambulance and diagnosed with a broken collarbone.  A standard fracture takes 4 to 6 weeks to heal, but Schneider has no time to waste with the German Olympic selection trials rapidly approaching in June.

She was entered to compete her number one Showtime at the CDI Mannheim on 29 - 30 April 2021 but had to cancel her entry due to the fracture.

Magical Vest

Yesterday, Dorothee announced that she's back in the saddle, riding Showtime. She shared a short clip of a fit and fresh Showtime.

"We are training eagerly to start soon again and first and foremost to be part of an Olympic qualification," said Schneider. "The fact that I can sit in the saddle again despite the injury is thanks to a great team of doctors, therapists and the support of the fans. I have to mention and recommend the "magical" neoprene vest of our team doctor, Dr. Giensch. It has been custom made for me. It stabilises the collarbone and the ribs and protects by fixating the arm from critical movements. It works really well and I'm very grateful for the support.
