Double Diamond, Camino Royal, Clooney, Coolio, Daily Pleasure, Daddy Moon Win 2016 Bundeschampionate Pony Finals

The 3-year olds Double Diamond AK and Camino Royal, the 4-year olds Clooney and BKS Coolio, the 5-year old Daily Pleasure and the 6-year old Daddy Moon became the grand champions of the riding and dressage pony finals at the 2016 Bundeschampionate, which were held at the DOKR headquarters in Warendorf, Germany, on 31 August - 4 September 2016.

The Bundeschampionate or German Championships for young horses and ponies are a season highlight for German breeders and sports fans. The pony classes are equally well attended as the horse tests and from these pony classes numerous future stars for FEI pony level and European Pony Championships will rise.

Julia Coldewey and the chestnut stallion Double Diamond Ak (by Dreidimensional x Don't Worry) were the winners of the 3-year old riding pony stallion class. Bred by Ulrike Hoefert and owned by Janna Alpers, the chestnut scored 9 for trot, 8.5 for canter, 7.5 for walk and 8.5 for training and conformation. The test riders awarded the stallion 19 points. Danica Duen and her own palomino Herzkönig (by Helios B x Don't Worry) were the reserve champions. Bred by Alfons Baumann, Herzkönig scored straight 8s for walk, trot, canter and training, 8.5 for conformation and 18.5 from the test riders.

Wibke Hartmann-Stommel and Thomas Stuhldreier's chestnut Camino Royal (by Cracker Jack x Courage) received the champion's sash in the 3-year old riding pony class for mares and geldings. Bred by Bernhard Jansen, Camino Royal scored 8.5 for trot and canter, 9.5 for walk, 9 for training and 8 for conformation. The test riders awarded the gelding 17.50 points. Jana Freund and brood farm Baumken's chestnut Doc Hollywood (by Daddy Cool x Dornik B) were the runners-up with 8.5 for trot, 8 for canter, 8.5 for walk, training and conformation and 17.50 from the test riders.

Hartmann-Stommel bagged her second pony title this year aboard Nadine Krause's buckskin stallion Clooney (by Cyrill x Valido) in the 4-year old riding pony class for stallions. The pair scored 9 for trot, 8.5 for canter and walk, 9 for traiing and 8 for conformatioon. The test riders scored the stallion 19 points. Wenke Kraus and the Tackmann family's Dimensional (by Dimension x Champion de Luxe) were the reserve champions. The chestnut stallion, bred by Uwe and Gitte Peetz, scored 8.5 for walk, trot, canter and training, 8 for conformation and 18 from the test riders.

Christiane Seelig' buckskin BKS Coolio (by Champion de Luxe x Blackboy) topped the board in the 4-year old riding pony mares and geldings class. The charming buckskin is bred and owned by the British duo Juliet and Francesca Walker. He scored 8 for trot and canter, 9 for walk, 8.5 for training and conformation and 18.50 from the test riders. German Young Riders team member Anna Lisa Theile rode Hildegard Eller's Chilly Morning (by Calido G x Sandro Ace) to the reserve title. Bred by Josef Wernke, Chilly Morning scored 8.5 for trot and canter, 7 for walk, 8 for training and 8.5 for conformation. With an 18.50 from the guest judge riders, the silver was theirs.

Competing at a more technical level in the A-level dressage test, the 5-year old dressage pony division featured 17 combinations in the finals. Ann-Cathrin Rieg and the chestnut stallion Daily Pleasure (by HB Daylight x Dressman) earned the national title with an 8.3 total score. Bred by Reinhard Kramer and owned by Philipp Bertels, Daily Pleasure got 8 for trot and canter, and 8.5 for walk, submission and general impression. Alissa Horz and Ferienhof Stucker's Daddy's Starlight, a chestnut mare y Don't Worry x Champion de Luxe, finished second with 7.6. The pair got 8 for walk and trot, 7 for canter and 7.5 for submission and general impression.

Zoe Gilbers and brood farm Baumken's palomino gelding Daddy Moon (by Daddy Cool x Capri Moon) aced the 6-year old dressage pony finals and earned the gold with an 8.7 score. the gelding for 9.5 for trot, 8 for walk, 8.5 for canter and submission and 9 for general impression. German junior rider Maike Mende and Danica Duen's bay stallion Cosmopolitan D (by Champion de Luxe x Marsvogel xx) were the runners-up with 8.3. Bred by Hubert Hemmelgarn, the bay stallion scored 9 for trot, 8 for walk, 8.5 for canter, 7.5 for submission and 8.5 for general impression.
