Rockson, the 2015 Danish Young Horse Champion and 2016 World Young Horse Championship participant, has been sold to the sponsor of German Grand Prix rider Uwe Schwanz. Mrs Hildegard Riedmaier acquired Rockson for Schwanz to ride.
Rockson is a 5-year old Danish warmblood gelding by Rockefeller x Sorento x Landtinus x Castro. He is bred by Anette Nilausen and Niels-Jørgen Johansen.
The horse first made his claim to fame in 2015 when Anne Sofie Aaen competed the gelding in the 4-year old dressage horse classes. Andreas Helgstrand spotted the horse's talent and purchased a 50% ownership share from the breeders.
Under Helgstrand's head rider Severo Jurado Lopez the bay gelding won the 2015 Danish Young Horse Championships in the 4-year old division. He went on to finish fourth in the consolation finals at the 2016 World Championships for young dressage horses in Ermelo, The Netherlands.
Ridehesten first broke the news that Rockson has sold to Germany. Uwe Schwanz will continue the competitive career of the bay gelding. Interestingly Schwanz was the former rider of Jurado Lopez' Olympic team horse Lorenzo with whom he placed fifth at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. Schwanz and Lorenzo finished fourth at the 2009 Bundeschampionate in the 3-year old riding horse division for stallions.
"We've looked at several horses at Mr Helgstrand's place and Rockson stood out from the start with his sympathetic nature, his elastic movements and his incredibly mind," Schwanz told Eurodressage.
Riedmaier, who owns a major machine construction company, is also to owner of Schwanz' current Grand Prix horse Hermes (by Hotline x Lanciano x Raueck) as well as the 7-year old M-level competed Little Joe (by Locksley II x Donnerhall).
