The KWPN bred and NRPS and Selle Français approved stallion Ferrolan has passed away on 5 December 2015 at age 23. The stallion had to be euthanized after he developed complications from an injury he sustained in the field at his home Domaine de Mauvoisin in Yvelines, France.

Ferrolan was bred by P. Verdellen and was owned by the French based Belgian dressage rider Luc Tackaert. The dark bay stallion was born in 1992 and originally named Klint. He was by Ferro out of Evita (by Ramiro Z x Abgar xx).

Ferrolan started his dressage career under Nicolette van Leeuwen (formerly Van Lierop) who took him from novice to Grand Prix level. She competed the stallion at the 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 Zwolle International Stallion Show.

Under Dutch young rider Fieke Houwen, the horse was successful in 2008. The duo showed at the Dutch Championships, the CDIO Rottermdam and CDI-YR Weert. In 2010 Ferrolan sold to Tackaert who competed him until 2014.

"It was a joy to have had Ferrolan in our stable," Tackaert told Eurodressage. "He was a real gentleman. I never knew losing a horse could be so painful, but I guess this is because Ferrolan was such a kind and generous horse. He was a loyal and constant companion until the end."
