The 14-year old Danish owned small tour horse Samarant has passed away. The formerly licensed Hanoverian stallion was euthanized on Wednesday 18 March 2015.

Samarant was a Hanoverian born in 2001 and bred by Rolf Deecke. He was by Sandro Hit out of Bellevue (by Brentano II x Andrang xx x Florino xx) and originally owned by Paul Schockemohle.

He was first approved by Mecklenburg and Oldenburg in 2004 before being licensed by the Hanoverian society in April 2005. He did his 30-day performance test in 2004 in Schlieckau and scored 7.92.

Under Schockemohle's stable rider Anja Engelbart, he was reserve champion as a 4-year old at the 2005 Hanoverian Young Horse Championships in Verden and he finished sixth at the 2005 Bundeschampionate. In 2007 he sired 20% of the foals that qualified for the German Foal Championship Finals. Two out ten foals in the Finals were by Samarant.

In 2008 the stallion sold to Brian F. Christensen from Denmark and stood up for stud at Sabine Petersen and Martin Hussmann of Stald Hussmann in Børkop, Denmark. After arriving in Denmark he was competed by Joachim Thomsen up to small tour level and then shown by Andreas Helgstrand as well.

In 2011 the black was gelded and became a sport horse for Brian's junior rider daughter Maria Fauerholm Christensen. In 2013 Maria started competing him internationally at junior riders' level. They were fourth at the 2014 Danish Junior Riders Championships.

Samarant has one licensed offspring in Germany and sired 15 State Premium mares.
