2014 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses

Stine Doesing and her own Danish warmblood mare Lehmanns Lilo won the consolation finals for 6-year olds at the 2014 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses in Verden, Germany, on Saturday 9 August 2014. Two Danes edged out the rest of the competition and captured a spot in the Finals. Danes Doesing and Allan Gron will be joined by German Beatrice Buchwald in the Finals tomorrow.

Doesing rode Linda and Dennis Lehmann's breeding product Lilo (by De Niro x Midt West Ibi Light) to victory by scoring 8.56 in the consolation round, which entails a re-run of the preliminary test. The bay mare with her powerfully cadenced trot scored 8.9 for that gait. The judges panel, which included Maria Colliander (FIN), Andrew Gardner (GBR), Wojciech Markowski (POL) and Liselotte Fore (USA), also gave her an 8.5 for the walk, 8.8 for canter, 7.9 for submission and 8.7 for general impression.

Blue Hors' assistant trainer Allan Gron and the impressive Danish bred stallion Zick Flower (by Zack x Romanov) finished in second place with 8.40. The talented horse, which showed incredible expression in the lateral movements in trot, earned 9.3 for trot. The canter is uphill and engaged from behind (9.3). The walk was mediocre, though, and put only 6.4 on the board. With an additional 8.5 for submission and general impression, Gron can re-appear tomorrow.

Beatrice Buchwald and Manfred Hodl's Westfalian stallion Den Haag (by Diamond Hit x Florestan) completed the top three with a solid round. The typical Diamond Hit offspring posted scores of 8.8 for trot, 7.9 for walk, 8.7 for canter, 7.8 for submission and 8.5 for general impression to average 8.34, which was good for third place.

Rounding out the top five were Anja Wilimzig on the Oldenburg stallion Sir Heinrich (by Sir Donnerhall x Furst Heinrich) with 8.20. They tied in fourth place with Belgian Tom Franckx on Serge Pais' KWPN mare Dolores van de Kwikaard (by Zucchero x Royal Diamond).
