The Grand Prix level competed Trakehner sire Distelzar will be proclaimed Trakehner Stallion of the Year 2013 during the 2013 Trakehner Stallion Licensing in Neumunster, Germany, on 17 - 20 October 2013.

Bred by Diana Grün of Gestut Lindenhof, Distelzar is by Gribaldi out of Distelgold (by Arogno) and has already produced 10 licensed offspring, including premium stallions Donaustolz and Donaugold. From his first crop of foals came the Trakehner reserve licensing champion C'est Bon.

The now 15-year old dark bay stallion was licensed in Neumunster in 2000 and was the first German approved offspring by Gribaldi. He won his 30-day stallion performance test with 8.77

He sold to Swiss Marie-L Wüthrich for 300,000 euro at the 2001 Klosterhof Medingen auction and in 2005 came in training with Wüthrich's cousin Swiss Andrea Wicki-Mäder, who now owns the stallion. In 2008 the pair made its small tour debut and in 2010-2011 made the transition to Grand Prix level. He won bronze at the 2010 Swiss Grand Prix Championships, the same year he was proclaimed Elite Stallion by the Trakehner society.
