Maren Engelhardt of Trakehners International reported that three new elite stallions have been proclaimed Elite Sires by the Trakehner Verband in 2010. Distelzar, Hibiskus and Insterburg TSF will from now on carry the coveted "E.H." title in their names.

EH Distelzar (by EH Gribaldi out of Distelgold by EH Arogno) was bred by Gestüt Lindenhof am Berg in Gielert and is owned by Swiss Andrea Wicki-Mäder. After many years at Klosterhof Medingen's stallion station and a very successful young horse dressage career, Distelzar sold to Marie Wuthrich in Switzerland for 300,000 euro at the Klosterhof Medingen Auction. Wuthrich later on sold her to current owner and rider Wicki-Mäder. Distelzar competes at Grand Prix level and became reserve champion at the 2010 Swiss Grand Prix Championships in Eggenwill in August.  "To this day and despite normal covering numbers, produced 8 approved sons, of which several have promising sport careers," said Engelhardt.

EH Hibiskus (by EH Latimer out of Hirtennacht by EH Hohenstein, mare family of T14O3 Herbstblüte, von Schöning, Kl. Sallentin) was the Reserve Champion of the 2002 Trakehner Stallion Licensing and sold to Gestüt Sommerlade before the auction. He began his stallion career most successfully, competed in young horse dressage classes and also stood with Ingrid Klimke for some time. However, his sport career was cut short due to his popularity and demand in the breeding shed, and he was later acquired by Gestüt Wiesenhof when the Sommerlade herd was dispersed. Hibiskus had sired several celebrated dressage horse champions and continues to be a popular sire in the Trakehner breed.

Finally, EH Insterburg TSF (by EH Hohenstein out of E.St. Indira X by Giorgio Armani, mare family of O451 Ilonka, Bongart - Gr. Buchwald) was bred by Hans Derlin and began his career as a dressage horse under the ownerships of Claudia Post-Schultzke. Insterburg TSF was approved as a premium stallion in Leverkusen in 2003. Under Carola Koppelmann the very talented black stallion won bronze at the World Young Horse Champinships in Verden and at the Bundeschampionate. He qualified for the Nürnberger Burgpokal and entered international Grand Prix dressage competitions successfully until his sale in early 2010. His new owner is the Swedish young rider Antonia Ramel.
