Isabell Werth's 16-year old Hanoverian gelding Warum Nicht FRH will not return to the show ring. The tall chestnut gelding fractured his pelvis back in June 2012 and will not recover sufficiently to make a top come back.
"He's recovering really well from his pelvic fracture, which he sustained a few weeks ago in his box in a mysterious way," Werth explained. "I think he won't return to competition sport. He has already achieved so much in his career and I don't want to train him to the top again at any cost."
In July Werth first mentioned Warum Nicht's injury, which then had happened already six weeks ago. The stable personnel had found "Hannes" lame in his box during the morning check. A vet exam revealed that he had fractured a
bone in his hip.
Warum Nicht FRH is bred by Hinrich Lüssen, owned by Madeleine Winter-Schulze and is by Weltmeyer x Wenzel x Mon Cherie. Hannes Baumgart started the chestnut as a four year old and the horse twice competed at the Bundeschampionate. He was acquired for Werth in 2003.
"Hannes" is one of Werth's most winning horses, totalling a purse of more than 700,000 euro in his career. In 2011 alone, Warm Nicht won 118,008 euro prize money.
