2012 Swedish Youth Riders Championships

Sofie Andersson captured the Swedish national title at the 2012 Swedish Pony Championships in Hastviken, whereas Marina Mattsson and Elin Espnas became the junior and young riders champions at the 2012 Swedish Junior and Young Riders Championships held a week earlier in Kågeröd.

The 2012 Swedish Pony Championships were held in Hastviken, Sweden on 10-12 August 2012. Sofie Andersson and her cute dark bay gelding Puccini (by Pour l'Amour x Night Star I) were undefeatable, winning all three rounds of the championship. The combination scored 71.026%, 71.138% and 74.600% to average a total of 72.255%. Andersson stayed well ahead of Danish born Swedish pony and junior rider Amalie Egholms Hebsgaard on her Danish sports pony Extrem (by Robin). Hebsgaard, who internationally competes in the junior riders' division aboard Madonna Bally and nationally even at young riders with this same horse, averaged a total of 70.410%. 2012 Swedish European Championships pony team member Amanda Svanberg and Lykkes Chester (by Contus x Courage) earned the bronze. The 15-year old Amanda scored an average of 69.890% over the weekend.

At the 2012 Swedish Junior and Young Riders Championships held at the Kågeröds Riding Club on 3 - 5 August 2012, junior rider Marina Mattsson and young rider Elin Aspnas took the highest step on the podium. Both riders are students of Jan Brink.

In the Junior Riders division Mattsson and her temperamental chestnut gelding Beckham (by Bernstein x Koncerz xx) topped the leader board in all three rounds, scoring 70.901%, 70.351% and 73.350 in the Kur to total 214.602 points. Following far in the distance was the petite Filippa Borjeson on the 17-year old dark bay Swedish warmblood Basic (by Bernstein x Caliban xx). She got the silver with her 207.919 total. Julia Augustsson and the 19-year old Hanoverian licensed stallion World of Dreams (by World Cup I x Cardinal xx) were good for bronze. World of Dreams was the 2010 European Junior Riders Champion under Charlott Maria Schurmann and sold to Sweden in the autumn of 2010. Augustsson so far has not competed the horse internationally, but on national level she now earned bronze with a 204.934 point total.

In the Young Riders division Elin Aspnas and her sensitive Hanoverian mare Donna Romma (by Don Frederico x Warkant) were untouchable winning each of the three rounds with top notes. The combination received 72.763%, 69.912% and 72.625% from the panel of judges to total 215.300 points. The silver medal went to Anna Drugge on her grey Stroller (by Highlight x Master), who were last year's silver medalists in the junior riders' class. The pair now totalled 203.137 points. Elisabeth Hjelm and her 9-year old liver chestnut gelding Chock (by Chapman x Master) finished in bronze medal position with 202.863 points.
