Sixteen-year old Marina Mattsson and the liver chestnut stallion B Capriole have won the 2010 Swedish Pony Championships hosted in Vansbro, Sweden, on 13 - 15 August 2010.
Aboard Kicki Linnell's Swedish bred stallion B Capriole (by Cippyn Red Crusader x Karlsfälts Caruso), Mattsson achieved a hattrick winning all three rounds of the Championships with top scores. Her marks kept climbing as she got 72.96 for the team test, 73.07% for the individual test and 75.20% for the Kur to Music, three times winning the trophy and grabbing gold in the overall ranking.
"He was a little tired today," Mattsson told Tidningen Ridsport after the Kur. "Maybe out trip to the European Championships in England is still in his legs. The trot work was good." Mattsson is trained by Jan Brink and will make the transition to Junior Riders' level in 20110. She already competed her horse Beckham internationally in some junior classes this year.
Danish born Amalie Egholm Hebsgaard and her Danish riding pony gelding Extrem (by Robin) became the reserve champions. They were second in all three rounds with 69.44%, 71.05% and a first place tie score of 75,20% in the Kur.
Swedish team rider Ebba Deijenberg and Anna Teiling-Gårdlund's Swedish bred bay riding pony Bambino (by Carolinas Foxglove - Urbino) earned the bronze. They were second in the team test with 71.481%, sixth in the individual (67.544%) and third in the Kur (71.450%).
