Wolkenstein II Passed Away

Hanoverian breeding stallion Wolkenstein II passed away today at Celle stallion station in Oberndorf, Germany. The 21-year old chestnut stallion was found dead in his stall.

The 1990 born Wolkenstein II was bred by Max Schulz-Stellenfleth and sired by Weltmeyer out of State Premium Mare Wolke (by Wendekreis x Grande). He was the reserve licensing champion in Verden in 1992 and won the Stallion Performance Test in Adelheidsdorf in 1993. He scored a total of 139.6 with a dressage score of 138.89.

Wolkenstein II sired 1710 registered offspring in Hanover alone. He has 513 registered broodmares and 160 state premium mares and candidates. He produced 46 licensed offspring, including the 1998 Hanoverian Licensing Champion Waterford, KWPN approved Sonique and Danish based Welser.

Wolkenstein II's most famous offspring includes Hiroshi Hoketsu's Olympic mare Whisper, Sanneke Rothenberger's Wolke Sieben, Elizabeth Juliano's Wildest Dream, Nurnberger Burgpokal reserve champion Wild Dance, Esther Maruhn's Watulele, and Alexandra Malmstrom's Waterford II.
