Junior rider Dana van Lierop and young rider Michelle van Lanen were in front in the ranking at the 2011 CHIO Cup Qualifier held at Sunrise Stables in Assen, The Netherlands, on Sunday 9 April 2011. None of the juniors nor the young riders were able to reach the 70% magical score barrier, despite an impressive field of 44 competitors in total.
After finishing second in the FEI Pony Imperial riding cup qualifier at the same location the day before, the 15-year old Dana van Lierop won the junior riders' division aboard DJ Tiesto (by Rohdiamant). The combination scored 67.88% to win the class. Denise Nekeman was breathing down her neck, though as the Hasselt based rider scored 67.84% on Ridderkerk (by Kennedy). Anne Meulendijks and the impressive black Ohio (by Indoctro) were third with 66.76%.
Young rider Michelle van Lanen rode her huge liver chestnut Urchin B (by Jazz x Vincent) to a 68.60% score and earned the trophy. She referred Debora Pijpers on Grand Prix schoolmaster Now I'm Here (by Contango) to a second place (66.27%). Birgit van der Drift and her bright bay gelding Twister (by Havidoff) were third with 65.18%.
The final CHIO Cup qualifier is held at the KNHS headquarters in Ermelo, The Netherlands, on 29 May 2011.
