Antoinette te Riele and Melissa Tychon were the winners in their age division at the first qualifier of the 2010-2011 CHIO Cup show circuit. The first leg held at Stable de Ijzeren Man in Weert, The Netherlands, was the kick-off event in a string of competitions for Dutch junior and young riders. These CHIO Cup qualifiers serve as observation trials and qualification events for the Dutch team with a big final will be held at the 2010 CDIO Rotterdam.
Antoinette te Riele won the junior riders' division on home turf as De Ijzeren Man is owned by her grandfather Adri Gordijn. Aboard the Hanoverian mare Fleurie (by Florestan x Akzent II) Te Riele received 70.36% from the panel of judges which consisted of Vrenken, Nijskens and Van Esch, who also judged the Imperial Riding Cup qualifier that weekend. Stephanie Kooijman and the super talented massive black gelding Winston (by OO Seven) placed second on 70.27% and tying with Anna Meulendijks aboard her black Dutch warmblood Ohio (by Indoctro). Pony-rider-gone-junior Dana van Lierop was fourth with DJ Tiesto.
The young riders division was judged by Jansen, Peeters and Van der Harst. Melissa Tychon and the Trakehner bred gelding Marinetty (by Solero x Itaxerxes) topped the leaderboard with a score of 70.702%. Coby van Baalen's student Angela Krooswijk finished second with Revino (68.947% and third with the Fidermark offspring Flash (66.754%). Teddy Wiedeler is back aboard her first horse Topper after selling her 2010 European Championship mount Seigneur at the Equine Elite auction. In Weert Wiedeler finished fourth with Topper on 66.491%
The next CHio cup qualifier will be at Stable De Goubergh in Roosendaal, The Netherlands, on 30 January 2011.
