Dutch FEI pony rider Sanne Vos won the first leg of the 2010-2011 Imperial Riding Cup show circuit, which started on Saturday 11 December 2010 with a first qualifier at Stable De Ijzeren Man in Weert, The Netherlands. Aboard the experienced schoolmaster Just You 'N Me, Vos scored 70.65% to take the lead in a field of 33 competitors.
None of the 2010 Dutch Pony team riders were in Weert, as two of team moved on to junior riders level and the other two were not entered. This enabled less experienced and rising pony riders to come to the forefront.
Lotte Meulendijks and the bay Boticelli received 68.80% from the panel of judges, which consisted of Nijskens, Van Esch and Vrenken. She beat Sanne Gilbers on Geronimo B by a fraction of a point (68.06%). Newcomer Jelle Peeters landed a fourth place aboard Nandor (67.78%)
The Imperial Riding Cup is a special show circuit for Dutch FEI pony riders. The qualifiers for the Finals (held in Almelo in the summer) serve as observation and selection trials for Dutch pony team nomination. The next qualifier will be in Emmeloord on 16 January 2011.
