Former international team rider Sandy Phillips-Pflueger has stepped down from her role as a British Dressage senior selector. Phillips has chosen for an active competition career this year and wants to be considered for selection herself.

As it poses a conflict of interest, Philips decided to resign as selector for the British Dressage teams.

Sandy and her 12-year old Rhinelander mare Lara (by Lanciano) have been selected to take part in the CDIO Saumur, 26 – 30 April 2006, and will look to compete in more international dressage competitions throughout the summer.

"When she took up the role as selector last summer it was agreed that Sandy would be able to step down if she chose to focus on competing Lara,” said Chairman of Selectors David Trott. “Her knowledge and insight have been a valuable addition to the senior selection panel and we look forward to following her progress as she competes this year. “

The appointment of a new senior selector will be ratified by the British Dressage Board of Directors shortly.

Sandy Pflueger is an American born equestrian who married Captain Mark Phillips in 1997. She took on the British nationality already in 1996 and was a reserve member on the 1996 British Olympic team and a team member at the 1999 European Dressage Championships aboard Fun. She also competed No Limit, Lindor and Lara at international FEI level.
