Glenhill Mr. Hollywood, Wischhoffs Caramba, Long Park Lucky Win 2023 Australian Young Pony Championships

The 4-year old Glenhill Mr. Hollywood, the 5-year old Wischhoffs Caramba, and the 6-year old Long Park Lucky became the winners of the 2023 Australian Young Pony Championships, held annually during the PSI Dressage with the Stars competition at the CDI-W Werribee. 

The format included two rounds per age group: a warm-up round and a second, finals round counting for the Championship. The winners of each age category then were test ridden by Evelyn Eger in a final super final to determine the "champion of champions". The winner was Wischhoffs Caramba.

4-YO: Glenhill Mr. Hollywood

Nine combinations contested the 4-year old division and Alison Gill topped the board with the German Riding Pony stallion Glenhill Mr. Hollywood (by Movie Star). Owned by Christan Trainor, the pony scored a winning total of 72.600%.  Judges Susan Hoevenaars, Jane Ventura, and Christine Sievers rewarded the pony with 6.9 for walk, 7.0 for trot, 8.0 or canter, 7 for submission and 7.4 for perspective. Mr Hollywood is an embryotransfer, bred in Australia, out of  Nobis Juliette (by Aester El Nino). 

The silver went to Toni Webb aboard Freeman's Lodge Gigabyte (by Freemans Lodge Debonair) with 72.200%. This gelding got 7 for walk and trot, 7.5 for canter, and 7.3 for submission and perspective. 

Javais Ham and Bango Sport Ponies' grey gelding Jack Frost BSP (by Del Estero NRW x Hilkens Denali) finished third with 70.00%. Bred by Renee Brawata and owned by Kathleen Uniacke, this gelding scored 6.5 for walk, 7.2 for trot, 7.5 for canter, 6.7 for submission and 7.1 for perspective. 

    5-YO: Wischhoffs Caramba

    Six combinations lined up for the 5-year old division in which Serena Ireland became the best scorer aboard Wischhoffs Caramba (by Golden Grey x High Flown's Oxford) with 75.400%. Bred and owned by Helmut Klindworth, this mare posted 75.400% for the victory with 7.7 for trot and 7.5 for walk, canter, submission and perspective. The palomino was imported from Germany, where it started its competition career under Wenke Kraus in 2021.

    Following in a distance was Kaitlyn Mcgill aboard Penmain Diamonte (by Triple Trees Prince Perfect x Keston Royal Occassion) with 71.200%. Bred and owned by Rosanne Mason, this chestnut mare with flaxen mane and tail received 6.5 for walk, 7.4 for trot, 7.5 for canter, 7 for submission and 7.2 for perspective from judges Hoevenaars, Sievers, and Lee Howells.

    Right on the heels of the second placed pair were Toni Webb and the Welsh Cob pony Salient Park Once Again (by Cwmkaren Tywysog Harri). The gelding totalled 71.000% with 8 for walk, 7.5 for trot, 7 for canter, 6 for submission and 7 for perspective. 

    6-YO: Long Park Lucky

    Ten pairs battled it out in the 6-year old class, which was bested by Karen Blythe aboard Emma Turnbull's Welsh pony Long Park Lucky (by Bookra Sovereign Edition x Rosnaree Cascade). The gelding topped the board with 75.800% after getting 8 for walk, 7.3 for trot, 7.5 for canter and submission and 7.6 for perspective from judges Hoevenaars, Ventura, and Sievers.

    Holly Barnes and the German registered mare Goldfarben (by Golden Rock x Radway Right Royal) landed second place with 73.60%. Bred by Lisa Waller and owned by the rider, this mare got 8 for walk, 7.5 for trot;  7 for canter and submission and 7.3 for perspective. 

    Bettina Kopetzky and the Australian bred San Sebastien (by Owendale Sunstone out of Richmead Dream) finished third with 72.400%. Bred by Christine Norris, this gelding got 7.2 for walk, 7.1 for trot, 7.5 for canter, 7.1 for submission and 7.3 for perspective.
