The German owned Dutch team pony Ganymed W has been sold abroad. He will continue his sport career in Switzerland.
Ganymed W is a 7-year old German Riding Pony stallion from Weser Ems. He's by Glück Auf A out of Simsalabim (by Can Dance x Black Boy II) and bred by Elisabeth Wallschlag.
German Start
Owned by German Alfons Rieg, he got licensed for Weser Ems in 2021.
Alfons' daughter Ann-Cathrin Rieg trained and competed the young stallion from the start. They debuted in March 2023 at a local show in Ansbach and finished fifth at the 2023 Oldenburg Young Pony Championships. At the 2023 Bundeschampionate they were 8th in the 4-year old stallion class. Rieg continued to show him locally in 2024 at L-level, while in 2025 she showed the 6-year old at M-level against horses and they won their last show in Waiblingen with 8.0.
Dutch Team Pony
Ganymed W was advertised for sale on Eurodressage Equimarket. Rieg ended up making a loan agreement with the Dutch Niessen family.
The ride was handed over to Dutch team rider Esmae Niessen, who was without a pony after deciding to sell team silver medal winning European Championship pony Do It My Way to the Ek family in Sweden. In February 2026 Esmae took over the reins of Ganymed.

Switzerland
Ganymed W has now been sold to Switzerland.
"He‘s sold to Switzerland, near Zürich, to a young 11 or 12 year old girl," Ann-Cathrin told Eurodressage. "She’s very passionate and harmonises amazingly with Ganymed. I think we‘ll hear a lot from them two."
