Norwegian Grand Prix rider Ellen-Birgitte Farbrot has decided to leave her Danish base of 16 years, brood farm Følle Strandgaard in Denmark, to go solo.
The 42-year old Farbrot announced the news three weeks ago.

Ellen began riding at childhood age and first competed in eventing and show jumping before fully committing to dressage. She became a three-time Norwegian Dressage Champion and first represented Norway as a young rider at the Nordic Baltic Championships in Billund in 2005 on Ester Boy Casper. Her first major FEI championship as a senior was in 2010 at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, where she withdrew CC Royal from the Grand Prix.
In December 2010, Farbrot became the head trainer and manager of Marie Louise Ebdrup's brood farm Følle Strandgaard, which focuses mainly on dressage pony breeding.
Aboard ailormade Akon Askelund she showed at the 2013 European Championships in Herning and the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen. In 2021 she was eligible to compete at the Tokyo Olympics aboard Tailormade Red Rebel, but ended up declining the spot. They showed at the 2021 European Championships in Hagen instead.
Her last international start was at the CDI Randbol in November 2021 at small tour level on JJ Filippa.
Going Solo
Farbrot has now decided to go solo.
"I leave with nothing but gratitude for the incredible horses and ponies, riders, friendships, and experiences that have shaped me along the way," she said. "A heartfelt thank you to Marie Louise Ebdrup and everyone who has been part of this journey. Now I’m excited to focus on what I love most— helping horses and riders reach their full potential."
