Mount St John Stud is looking for an experienced and dedicated Stud Manager to join our world class dressage breeding programme in North Yorkshire.
Home to over 120 horses, including elite broodmares, foals and youngstock with many destined for international sport, this is a rare opportunity to play a key role within one of the world’s leading dressage breeding operations, where excellence, horse welfare and exceptional horsemanship are at the heart of everything we do.
About the Role
As Stud Manager, you will lead the daily care and management of our stud, overseeing a professional team and ensuring the highest standards of health, welfare and organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the care of 120+ horses across all age groups
Leading, motivating and developing a dedicated team
Overseeing equine first aid and wound care
Management of a 30-mare foaling season due in 2027, including a shared overnight foaling rota
Handling horses confidently with kind, effective, professional horsemanship
Maintaining our culture of excellence, teamwork and attention to detail
We’re Looking For
- Proven experience managing a large-scale stud or commercial equine facility
- Strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Excellent knowledge of equine health, welfare and first aid
- Hands-on experience with foaling, broodmares, youngstock, including young colts
- A reliable, hardworking individual with a genuine passion for horses
The Role
• Live-in position with private onsite accommodation available
• Five-day working week (including at least one weekend day)
• Flexibility to participate in a shared overnight foaling rota during the breeding season
• Own transport essential
• Located in a beautiful rural setting in North Yorkshire
