French Team Announced for the 2026 World Championships Dressage

The French equestrian federation has announced the team that will represent France at the 2026  World Championships in Aachen on 11 - 15 August 2026.

Team trainer Jean Morel short-listed six combinations up for team consideration and has now announced his final selection close to the definite entry deadline.

"These are four riders who know each other and get along well," Morel stated. "The French team's successes have been achieved through teamwork; team spirit is important, and everyone is more than motivated to do their best. We could be in for some pleasant surprises."

The team will be accompanied by  Cédric Fissolo (team vet) and David Germain (team farrier).

The French team includes

  • Alexandre Ayache (43) on Ruling Olivia, a 12-year old Oldenburg mare, owned by her rider
  • Pauline Basquin (47) on Sertorius de Rima Z, a 16-year old Zangerheide gelding, owned by the French Institute of the Horse and Riding
  • Bertrand Liegard (49) on Ginger, a 15-year old KWPN mare, owned by Annabel Moreau and Claudia Chauchard
  • Alizée Roussel (36) on Bel Amour, a 14-year old Oldenburg stallion, owned by Régine Fimbel and her rider.

No reserve rider was announced but Rachel Bastady (Quintesse) and Pierre Volla (Malcolm X de Massa) were nominatively entered.

Also the para dressage team was announced at the same time. The French para team is captained by Fanny Delaval.

"From August 3rd to 7th, we will be at the Federal Equestrian Park in Lamotte-Beuvron for a week-long training camp with these four selected pairs," said Delaval. "We will be fine-tuning their preparation and ensuring everything is in order, particularly regarding the horses' physical condition, before heading to Germany."

The para team includes:

  • Grade I: Vincent Brunet  (32) on Drazic, a 13-year  old Oldenburg gelding, owned by Véronique and Jean-Jacques Brunet 
  • Garde III: Chiara Zenati (23) on Zeus de Malleret, a 14-year old, Oldenburg stallion, owned by the French Institute of the Horse and Riding
  • Grade IV: Alexia Pittier (33) on Sultan, an 11-year old Hanoverian gelding, owned by Sylvie Pittier, Arthur Boutron and his rider 
  • Grade IV: Vladimir Vinchon (52) on Pegase Mayenne, a 13-year old Oldenburg gelding, owned by Maud Vinchon and her rider
