Eve Bartels has withdrawn herself from competing on the German team at the 2026 European Junior Riders Championships in Olomouc (CZE) on 15 - 19 July 2026.
Bartels' horse, the 12-year old Rhinelander Villeneuve (by Vitalis x Dancier x Worldly), is not fit to compete.
"Unfortunately Villeneuve has sustained an acute injury and will not participate in the European Championship this year," Bartels explained. "He is now getting the time he needs to fully recover."
Bartels acquired Villeneuve in the winter of 2023-2024 after he had a successful young horse career under Laura Strobel and Dorothee Schneider. She is based at Hofgut Rosenau and has trained with Thomas Wagner, Heinz Günther Scholten, and Semmieke Rothenberger in the past few years.
The pair's spot on the German team will be filled, not by the first reserve (Birte Nießing - Destino) but by the second reserve, Greta Louise Wagner on Vanessa H (by Vivaldi x Le Rouge).
"I couldn't imagine anyone better to take over Neuvi and my place in the team," Eve said about her substitute Greta Wagner. "I'm a firm believer in you and Vicky."
