The Danish equestrian federation issued a statement following the victory of Carina Cassoe Kruth at the 2026 Danish Dressage Championships in Randbol on 29 - 31 May 2026.

Kruth returned to competition sport after a period of suspension and exclusion from team activities.

Her win in Randbol was not appreciated by all Danish dressage enthusiasts, which promoted the Danish NF to issue a press release:

We fully understand that Carina Cassøe Krüth's participation and victory at the Danish Dressage Championships has created debate and strong emotions. The case has made a great impression on many in equestrian sports – including the Danish Equestrian Federation.

It is also important to emphasize that Carina Cassøe Krüth has served the suspension imposed in the case, and that she is now entitled to participate in events and championships on an equal footing with other riders. It is a fundamental principle in both sport and the legal system in general that a sanction is not indefinite, and that after the sanction has ended, one can return under the applicable rules.

In addition, in January 2025, the Danish Equestrian Federation established a special protocol for riders' return after quarantine. The protocol includes, among other things, dialogue, alignment of expectations and assessment of the framework surrounding the individual rider's return.

The protocol can be found here .

Carina Cassøe Krüth has gone through this entire process.

This does not change the fact that we continue to have a very strong focus on horse welfare, ethics and responsible behavior in the sport. The matter was serious, and that is also why we responded.

At the same time, it is important to emphasize that the Danish Equestrian Federation is continuously working to strengthen both the rules and the sanction options. The DRF's board of directors has adopted new and significantly stricter sanction frameworks for violations of the association's ethical guidelines at the board meeting in March. The new sanction frameworks will be implemented in the regulations as of 15/6-2026 and are a clear expression of the fact that horse welfare and ethical responsibility have a very high priority in the sport.

It is crucial that the rules and sanctions laid down in the system are enforced consistently and legally.
