Marlies van Baalen's Go Legend Moved to the U.S.A.

Marlies van Baalen's former international Grand Prix horse, Go Legend, has moved to the U.S.A. for a new chapter in his life.  

Go Legend is a 15-year old Dutch warmblood gelding by Totilas out of Litchy (by Ferro x Officier). 

Home Bred

Go Legend's dam Litchy passed away in 2013 but has been one of KWPN's most significant broodmares. She produced licensed stallions Painted Black I and Zizi Too, as well as Go Legend. In 2005 the bay mare sold via the Expo Talent Sale auction to Jan de Vries, father-in-law of Marlies van Baalen.

Go Legend was born in 2011 and Stal Wittenberg is credited as the breeder.

Marlies van Baalen and the team at Dressage Stable van Baalen produced the black from young horse level to Grand Prix.

He was first ridden as a youngster by Lisanne der Nederlanden and Jos Hogendoorn.  Marlies debuted him at international small tour level at the CDI Compiegne in May 2017 and moved him up to medium tour level in 2019.

Their first CDI Grand Prix was in April 2021 in Opglabbeek and the pair launched itself as candidates for Dutch Olympic team selection for Tokyo. After the CDI's in Exloo and Rotterdam they were nominated on the team and finished 20th in the Grand Prix Special with 71.292%. Six weeks later they went to the European Championships in Hagen, where they were 26th. in the Special with 69.377%

The duo competed through the winter of 2021 - 2022 with starts in Herning, Le Mans and Den Bosch but then more than a year break followed due to injury. They returned in May 2023 in Exloo and showed in Exloo, Rotterdam, Leeuwarden, and Kronenberg. Marlies' Habibi had taken over the number one spot in the barn and was on the Dutch team for the 2023 Europeans.

In 2024 they did three spring CDI's ('s Hertogenbosch, Tolnert and Exloo) and then another longer break from showing followed. They returned in February 2025 in Lier. Two weeks later the pair did its last CDI in 's Hertogenbosch in March 2025.

The black already relocated stateside a little less than a year ago.

He has found a new home with Catherine Kamenish who trains with Jennifer Conour.
