Dutch junior rider Lorna Verweijen announced on Instagram on 23 March 2026 that she has received the ride on the KWPN licensed stallion Guardian S.

Guardian S is a 15-year old KWPN stallion by Bodyguard out of Amadin S (by Trento B x Juventus x Michelangelo). He is bred by Stal van de Sande.

Young Horse Career

was licensed in 2014 and finished second in the KWPN Stallion Performance Test with 84.5 points.

Under Kim Koolen he competed in the 2015-2°16 KWPN Stallion Competition and the pair was in the running for Dutch team selection for the 2016 World Young Horse Championships but did not make the final cut for Ermelo. Kirsten Brouwer then took over the ride.

Despite the sale of the popular breeding stallion, Brouwer will continue to ride and compete Guardian S at the moment and show him on this winter's KWPN Stallion Competition circuit.

Co-Ownership with Van Grunsven

With Kim Koolen in 2016
In the autumn of 2016 half ownership sold to Anky van Grusnven's company.

The stallion remained with Brouwer for her to compete on the 2016-2017 KWPN Stallion Competition circuit, before he moved to Anky's in Erp.  In April 2017 Kim Koolen rode him at a stallion show. The horse's last show was in 2017. Anky never competed him. in 2018 Anky's student Jorinde Verwimp rode him at the KWPN stallion licensing.

In 2021 Guardian popped back up in the news when Anky gave the ride to Anne Meulendijks, but no show results were achieved. Meulendijks last competed internationally in June 2023 on 5-year olds.

In 2024 the ownership on Guardian's FEI passport was changed to include Spanish horse dealer Inigo Astiz Tabar. Guardian never showed internationally.

Back to Van de Sande

In February  2025 Guardian moved back "home" to Stal van de Sande, where Turkish-American Lina Uzunhasan took over the ride. She competed him in the Intermediaire II in March.  Lina presented the Grand Prix level trained stallion in one of the exhibition shows at the 2026 KWPN Stallion Licensing in Den Bosch.

Guardian returned back to breeding. He has sired 343 KWPN registered foals so far, of which one is a licensed son (Night Shadow).

Guardian S might now make a long-awaited come back to the competition ring with Dutch junior rider Lorna Verweijen.

She took to Instagram: "Welcome Guardian S, my new super star. Only 1.5 week a combination and yesterday we went to a competition and won at Z2 level with almost 72% and 71,2%. Super excited for this adventure."

The 17-year old Lorna competed internationally on ponies in 2022 and 2023. She showed Noordhof's Surprise (by Brummerhoeve's Boss x Valentino) and Miss Miracle (by Marco x FS Don't Worry) at FEI pony level across Europe. With Issyde van Aster (by Irakion) she rode a few Children tests at three CDI's. Lorna's last CDI was in July 2023 in Grote Brogel.
